Professional Mentoring Skills for Managers

The purpose of the learning programme is to equip learners with the necessary problem solving, facilitating, coaching and mentoring knowledge and skills so that they can mentor lead, guide and coach mentees in line with the COMENSA guidelines, values and ethical standards. Learners who wish to be credentialled will get the necessary specialised training and guidance to enable them to apply to COMENSA and have a reasonable prospect of being credentialled as a mentor.
Programme content covers: problem solving and facilitation techniques; understanding the role of a mentor; gaining trust and developing relationships based on trust; COMENSA performance standards and Code of Ethics; Self-mastery; ideal qualities for a mentor; conducting mentoring including the difficult first and last sessions; managing the termination of a mentoring relationship; the POI Act; conducting self-reflection and preparing a self-development plan; role management.
Learners attending these courses will receive additional coaching as appropriate, by a COMENSA credentialed coach or mentor.
