This learning programme will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills to enable you to undertake in-house coaching of staff. After you have gained the necessary workplace experience if you wish to apply to be credentials so that you can make coaching a career, you can attend the next level course, COACHING SKILLS FOR PROFESSIONALS (+ 25 notional hours) which will equip you to undergo the credentialing process to become a professional coach.
The training is highly interactive, entertaining and at the same time, very practical. Learners will come away with materials and templates as well as the knowledge and skills they will need in the workplace to coach managers and supervisors to: identify and address performance barriers in the workplace; manage absenteeism and sick leave abuse; manage under-performers; leverage even better performance from high flyers; deal with poor performance and minor misconduct firmly and constructively; resolve conflict in the workplace; provide career guidance and advice; develop solid relationships with coachees and team members; and create productive engaged work teams.
Programme content includes: the role of the coach; problem solving and decision making; COMENSA performance standards and Code of Ethics; identifying coaching needs; core coaching principles; drafting and negotiating coaching contracts; setting boundaries and boundary management; coaching models – GROW etc.; Socratic coaching; identifying values and lifetime goals; SMART goal setting; questioning and listening techniques; preparing for coaching; the significance of the first and last coaching sessions; the POPI Act and labour legislation in so far as it impacts on poor performance and corrective coaching.
