Introduction to Financial Coaching

The Introduction to Financial Coaching programme, offered by the School of Financial Planning Law at the University of the Free State, provides a transformative learning journey that integrates the art of coaching with the science of financial planning. Endorsed by COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa) as a Silver Training Programme and accredited for FPI CPD, it equips participants with the language, mindset, and tools to facilitate meaningful change in clients’ financial lives.

Through this experiential programme, participants learn to engage in conversations that go beyond money, exploring the moods, narratives, and concerns that shape financial behaviour. The course empowers advisers and coaches to build trust, strengthen relationships, and support clients in designing lives of purpose and prosperity. Learners gain the ability to observe and shift the emotional and linguistic patterns that influence financial decisions, fostering clarity and confidence in both clients and practitioners.

Graduates receive a certificate of completion and earn 26 CPD points (9 Technical, 13 General, 4 Ethics and Practice Standards) toward FPI CPD.

The programme benefits financial advisers, para-planners, managers, trainers, pension fund professionals, coaches, and psychologists seeking to expand their capacity to support lasting financial and personal wellbeing.
